Why I've built this

Practical software for a profession that deserves better tools

During my time studying TCM, I've often heard practitioners say "don't ever have your own herbal pharmacy, because you'll just lose money". Yet at the same time, we spent over 2 years studying herbs/formulas and were told how effective they are, how 'perfectly balanced' traditional formulas are to mitigate side effects/toxicity, and how acupuncture alone often isn't enough to bring patients the relief they need. Many people have turned to dropship companies and custom compounding herbal pharmacies which I have utter respect for, but they each have their issues. Many formulas need to be prescribed immediately (think shang han lun and wen bing), overnight shipping prices are out of the question, patented formulas often don't contain the proper dosages or preparations of the herbs, and custom/compounding herbal pharmacies are prohibitively expensive. Da chai hu tang calls for 24 pieces of da zao. Most companies don't obey that. In fact, companies tend to make slight variations of the majority of formulas. But if you have your own herb stock, you have complete control.

Having your own herbal pharmacy can be overwhelming: keeping track of what you have, when you bought it, when products go bad or get bugs, when to reorder; all on top of prescribing and fulfilling the orders. The logistics are often overwhelming for people. That is why I've built RootRx. It manages your stock, prices, expiry dates, custom formulas (no more math involved for granule formulas!), labels/barcodes, and shows you statistics to help keep track of your most sold products and when/what to restock. Whether you're a solo practice or a full fledged chinese medicine institution, this software is designed with you in mind.

I see too many practitioners and clinics relying on paper inventory systems and handwritten charting, in 2026! Especially with TCM, I've noticed that there simply are not enough modern, TCM-focused software solutions available. The few options I've come across were bound to their own products, clunky, outdated, overly generic, overkill with unnecessary features, or priced far beyond what many practitioners can afford.

I've been there; I've seen the pain points of being an intern in the clinic and having to print out every product order, track down the supervisor for a signature, then run over to the herbal pharmacy to hand them the order or double check it printed. RootRx makes the process simple: interns/practitioners create an order with a fully guided system, submit the order to the supervisor/herbalist, the herbalist fills the order, then the front desk checks out the order. It covers every edge case imaginable- it allows for order revision, returns, amendments, custom taxes, discounts, free herb samples, and even backorders (for extreme situations like power outages). Every action is fully audited and HIPAA compliant, so every amendment and action is logged safely to the cloud, giving you peace of mind as an owner knowing that all reasonable measures are taken to preserve privacy. And with a role/permission-based system, each user only has access to the workflows they need.

My goal since then has been to create an ecosystem that benefits alternative medicine as a whole, but especially the TCM community. I believe software should be practical, intuitive, and fairly priced. I'm trying to build tools that are sustainable for me to continue developing and improving, while also being affordable for practitioners who should not have to pay for a long list of features they will never use.

I am a single developer competing against companies with hundreds of millions of dollars in resources, but I believe TCM has something unique and valuable to offer the world, which is worth the challenge. Supporting practitioners and helping modernize the profession is what motivates me to keep building.

My products are not the cheapest on the market, but they are far from the most expensive. I focus on providing real value, listening to feedback, and gradually improving the software based on the needs of the community rather than the demands of a larger corporation.

Everyone can sign up for a 30 day trial (pharmacy is the only addon available for now), so please take advantage of that. And more features will be released soon, once I feel confident with this beta test. I hope that this product can save you time and keep you organized so that you are inspired to harness the power of herbs for yourself and can focus more of that time on treating patients.

Anyways, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions and thanks for visiting my app!

Pricing

Choose your clinic size, then compare module prices for that tier. Seat overage and AI add-ons are extra where noted.

Step 1 — Team size

Select the tier that fits your clinic.

Step 2 — Modules

Self-serve signup includes Pharmacy only today; charting and paid AI add-ons are coming soon. Save with annual billing when available.

Select a team size to see pricing

Module prices depend on your clinic size tier. Pick Solo, Practice, or Institution above to view monthly totals for each module.

Roles and seat unit weights: Owner/Admin/Practitioner/Herbalist = 1.0 · Supervisor/Front Desk = 0.75 · Intern = 0.40

When one member has multiple roles: each member bills at their highest role, plus lower-weight subroles on that account. Solo uses highest role only. Subroles on Solo plans do not add units.

Example: one member as Practitioner with Intern and Supervisor subroles = 2.15 seat units (1.00 + 0.40 + 0.75). Same-tier subroles (e.g. Admin + Practitioner) do not add extra units.

Monthly total = price shown above + seat overage where applicable + AI add-ons when added later.

AI pricing: AI overage is priced separately from other modules - TBD.
